Nonprofit hopes to use horses to help boost mental health of people of all ages (Video)
A man from Maine hopes horses can help improve their mental health and is bringing his idea to New Hampshire.
Creator of Horses Over America, Gerry Scott, said he came up with the idea for this program because he saw a need for mental health services during the pandemic. He said horses are very therapeutic and hopes to share that experience with as many people as possible.
“I basically thought, what can I do to help? And I thought, I have a world-class horse, I’m a serious horseman and I went and adopted a bunch of towns, I adopted 10,” Scott said.
He started the nonprofit to use horse therapy to boost people’s spirits. He and his horse Hercules have been visiting towns in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. On Thursday, he visited Wolfeboro.
“I don’t even know how to put it into words, it’s the closest thing to magic horses are that I have ever observed,” Scott said.
